Scandinavia is a region in Norther Europe that includes Norway, Sweden and Denmark. They have shared history and cultural and linguistic ties. This region is unique and has fjords, glaciers and sighting of Northern lights in winters. The Scandinavian peninsula consists of Norway, Sweden and Lapland which is part of Finland. These countries are also known as Nordic countries and share Viking history. Norway with its capital at Oslo occupies the western part of Scandinavian peninsula. It has deep fjords, a long coastline, quaint beautiful villages and scenic drives. The Flam railway is one of the best scenic railways in the world. Sweden located in the Scandinavian Peninsula is a developed country with its capital at Stockholm and shares border with Norway and Finland. Sweden is a democracy and a welfare state with constitutional monarchy. A safe and peaceful and sparsely populated country well connected by rail and roads. The stress is on sustainable travel. Denmark in Northern Europe is a developed country, a strong welfare state focussing on sustainability and is a high income country with high standard of living. With the capital at Copenhagen it consists of the Jutland peninsula and several islands. The Kingdom of Denmark, also known as the Danish Realm, includes Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. In Denmark, cycling is one of the primary forms of transportation, and each Dane cycles an average of 1.4 kilometres a day and is considered one of the happiest countries in the world.
