  • Apply for e visa in advance because the processing times vary based on the rush for visa.
  • Self drive tours are a great choice in both Australia and New Zealand.
  • The countries are generally safe with very sparse population except in the urban centres.
  •  People are very laid back and have a distinct accent. 
  • For travel between major cities there are several domestic flight options. Be prepared for long travel times due to vastness and remoteness of different places. 
  • Pack according to weather and for the outdoors. The climate varies widely depending on the location even within the same country. Check weather update before you head to Australia and NZ. Being in the Southern hemisphere peak summer is December and January.
  • Due to the unique flora and fauna of the islands, make sure you follow the rules and restrictions on import of food items and certain other products into the country from outside. 
     
  • Australia -  March to May (autumn) and September to November (spring).
  • New Zealand – December to March for warm weather and outdoor activities. Spring and Autumn are also good.
