  • Follow social etiquettes like not eating while walking and remaining silent while using public transport. Talking on mobile on public transport is frowned upon. 
  • Cash is the most used payment mode in Japan, even though credit cards are accepted
  • Buy and top up IC cards for local transport on metros to move around the well connected city and suburbs. 
  • You can book bullet train tickets online or buy at counters/machines at stations. 
  • Spring (March to May) – cherry blossom (Sakura) season
  • Autumn (September to November) – beautiful fall foliage
  • Winter (December to February) – ski season in Hokkaido, snow festivals
