Patna Bodh Gaya

Patna and Bodh Gaya are both located in the Eastern Indian state of Bihar. Patna is the historic capital of Bihar, situated on the southern bank of the Ganges River, known as Pataliputra in ancient times and a centre for the (Mauryan & Gupta empires) and known for its deep roots in Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. It's famous for landmarks like the Golghar, Patna Museum, Mahavir Mandir, Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib, and its vibrant culture, featuring Madhubani paintings, Khadi items, and proximity to sites like Nalanda and Bodh Gaya. Bodh Gaya is considered the holiest site of Buddhist pilgrimage and is home to the Mahabodhi temple complex, the place where Gautam Buddha is believed to have achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Buddhist pilgrims from around the world visit this holy place and hence Bodh Gaya has an international airport connected to cities like Bangkok, Tokyo etc. Gaya is also a holy pilgrimage place for Hindus who perform rituals for their departed family members.
